This pedal is a recreation of the famous dallas rangemaster from the 1960's.
The very first use of the pedal was to brighten up dark sounding amps. In the meanwhile everybody noticed that with a input capacitor selector you could also have it work as a full range boost. This is what we did here. This is a single transistor circuit, so we used the GT402I[И] it is right in the sweet spot of 100hfe.
Do you like natural overdrive right from the tubes of your precious amp? Well, this is the way to go. Not only that, but boosting all the frequencies, us guitarist, like to hear....the range is very good and the switch takes you form treble booster to full on boost just like that. The external bias although subtle, is there to fine tune the transistor.
I really enjoy the classics, they are responsible for all the legendary sounds you listen on the records.
If you want a legendary boost, build like tank on an original Bakelite board [point to point] with all the right components in a nice 1590C Hammond enclosure painted with a really textury hammered grey color..... you are in the right place!!!
